Help me finish this story
In 2024, I started working on a story in South Africa.
What I thought would be a single project turned into something much bigger, a story that stayed with me long after I returned home to the Netherlands. One that I haven’t been able to let go.
It focuses on human–wildlife conflict, a complex and often unseen reality where people and animals are forced to share the same space, with consequences on both sides.
This is not a simple story. And it’s not one that can be told from a distance.
To do it justice, I need to go back.
Why I need your support
Over the years, I’ve funded most of my work myself, driven by the belief that these stories matter. This project is no different.
To continue and complete this story, I need to return to South Africa for an extended period of fieldwork. Time to listen, to document and to capture what cannot be seen in a brief visit.
At the same time, this work has the potential to support conservationists on the ground, helping bring visibility to the challenges they face and the work they do.
To protect the integrity of the project, I’m keeping most details close for now. I will share more once the project is completed.
Funding goal
I’m aiming to raise €5,000 to help cover:
– Travel to and within South Africa
– Accommodation & transport during fieldwork
– Essential equipment

And I believe it has the power not only to create awareness, but to contribute, in a meaningful way, to the conservationists and the communities living alongside wildlife, as well as to the protection of wildlife itself.
